Ray Caesar
I have worked in many fields over the years, attended obedience classes and art colleges, jobs designing horrible buildings in architectural studios, digital service bureaus, suspicious casino computer game companies, eventually working at computer modeling, digital animation and visual effects for television and film. Some award nominations have been attained and I have been driven in long black liquor filled limousines and walked on hind legs down red carpets in Pasadena while wearing strange smelling rented tuxedos.
Things change and summer years come to an end. My change occurred one night when my Mother visited me, which was slightly unusual because she had passed away some months before, a victim to the cigarette habit she could never quite lick. Facing a wall and slowly turning I saw the right side of her face ablaze in light, her hand trying to cover the light as if she were apologetic for having it seep through. Words were said about following rabbits down holes and I was shown galleries of work which were to be my own. My Mother was not the first visitation I have had and it seems she will not be the last.

Seno Gumira Ajidarma
Imajinasinya liar. Setelah lulus SMP, Seno tidak mau sekolah. Terpengaruh cerita petualangan Old Shatterhand di rimba suku Apache, karya pengarang asal Jerman Karl May, ia pun mengembara mencari pengalaman.
Karya lain berupa novel Matinya Seorang Penari Telanjang (2000). Pada tahun 1987, Seno mendapat Sea Write Award. Berkat cerpennya Saksi Mata, Seno memperoleh Dinny O’Hearn Prize for Literary, 1997.

Michael Halbert
Assembly line to line art: This former autoworker's detailed illustrations resemble traditional engravings. There was a time when illustrator Michael Halbert thought he might spend the rest of his life hefting spare tires on a Chrysler assembly line. But these days, Halbert's detailed line art illustrations are featured in food packaging, point of purchase displays, print ads, annual reports, and books. Halbert sometimes begins his illustrations with a scratchboard rendering, where a black surface is scraped away to reveal white areas. The resulting images often resemble traditional engravings. Halbert scans the images and adds color in Adobe Photoshop.
Though Halbert enjoys his freelance success, he hasn't let it go to his head. He still works out of a room in his St. Louis house (which you can tour on his Web site), and remains modest. His interests include WWII-era artifacts, and he's now in the process of using Adobe Illustrator to create detailed illustrations of WWII vehicles, which he plans to sell over the Internet.
Does he ever miss his job installing spare tires on Chryslers? "No," Halbert responds. "I wish I could go back there for a week just to make me appreciate what I have now."
